Everyone on day 1 is considered a white belt.  A white belt is building a library of moves or techniques needed to first not be submitted and second to apply a submission in the correct way.

Blue Belt

A blue belt demonstrates proficiency in the art as well as a good library of techniques used during class. It takes many classes and a lot of heart to earn your blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
